Smile Education are currently searching for caring, compassionate, and committed Teaching Assistants to work with students with special educational needs who require additional, one-to-one support. This teaching assistant role is a fantastic opportunity to have a lasting impact on a child’s life as you will be playing a significant role in the academic, social, and emotional development of the students. It is sure to be extremely rewarding. This role is based in a Primary School in the Stafford area.
What will you be doing as an SEN Teaching Assistant?
- Providing individualised support: working with students on a 1-to-1 basis and delivering tailored interventions.
- Monitoring progress: working closely with the teacher to monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies if necessary.
- Managing challenging behaviour: remaining calm and handling challenging behaviour with care and patience.
- Developing learning resources and creating a fun and stimulating learning environment.
- Communication: working closely with the teacher, SENDCo, and outside agencies to ensure that all pupils receive the correct level of support.
What do you need to apply?
- Previous experience working with children, and the ability to provide references which can comment on this.
- A relevant qualification (for example a Level 2 Teaching Assistant NVQ)
- An understanding of different special educational needs, and the challenges and frustrations children may face.
- The ability and willingness to travel across Stafford and Stoke on Trent.
- Right to work in the UK.
