Smile Education is currently seeking a Reception Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a vibrant primary school in Smethwick. This is a full-time role, starting in November 2024 and running until July 2025, with the potential to make a significant impact on young learners.
About the Role:
  • Position: Reception Teaching Assistant (whole class support)
  • Start Date: November 2024
  • End Date: July 2025
  • Location: Smethwick, West Midlands
  • Contract Type: Full-time, term-time only
Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting the class teacher in a Reception class, working with children aged 4-5.
  • Providing general classroom assistance, including helping with activities, managing behaviour, and supporting children’s learning and development.
  • Encouraging children's social and academic growth through play-based and structured learning activities.
  • Working with pupils in small groups or on a one-to-one basis as required.
  • Assisting with phonics lessons and activities. Knowledge of the Read, Write, Inc scheme of work is ideal but not essential.
About You:
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is required.
  • Experience working in early years or primary settings is highly desirable.
  • Enthusiasm, patience, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
  • Knowledge of the Read, Write, Inc phonics program would be beneficial, but training can be provided.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with teachers and other support staff.
