About the School:
Smile education are working on behalf of a welcoming and supportive SEND school on the outskirts of Nottingham city centre. The school aims to providing a nurturing environment across their Nursery to Sixth from for children aged 4-19. The dedicated staff of the school strive to empower every student to reach their full potential. The needs of the children that attend the school have ASC, ADHD, MLD and SEMH needs.
Role Overview:
The school are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team this academic year. The ideal candidate will have a relevant background in supporting children or adults in either residential or educational settings and be ready to work as part of fast paced environment. The schools will also be welcome to applicants with extensive personal experience who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support class teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to individual needs.
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and provide targeted support to students.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages learning and social interaction.
  • Promote students' independence and life skills through daily activities.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a holistic approach to each student's development.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as necessary.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children or adults in a supportive role (residential or educational).
  • A compassionate approach and a strong commitment to enhancing the learning experience for students with SEND.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude towards challenges.
  • Relevant qualifications although not necessary.
