SEMH Teaching Assistant

Smile Education is currently recruiting on behalf of an all through School in Rugby seeking additional classroom support for pupils with SEND or SEMH needs. The school is eager to meet experienced Teaching Assistants (TAs) or Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) for long-term positions starting either immediately or after the Christmas break, depending on availability.
Role DetailsPosition: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Daily Rate: £80-£100
Responsibilities: Supporting pupils with challenging behavior
Commitment: Long-term role
Ideal Qualifications and Skills
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or a degree in Psychology/Special Educational Needs (preferred but not essential).
  • Team Teach or similar restraint training (advantageous but not mandatory).
The school is dedicated to providing a nurturing and inclusive educational environment for learners with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. They cater for children between the ages of 7 and 19 (learners currently transition at 16).
This role is ideal for candidates with practical and theoretical knowledge of SEND, especially those interested in SEMH. The school values stability, so the successful applicant should be prepared to work full-time and develop a strong rapport with the pupil(s) they support.
