Smile Education is excited to partner with an alternative provision school in Walsall that is dedicated to supporting students with diverse needs. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for high school students, both inside and outside the classroom.
About the School:
This inclusive and supportive environment caters to approximately 90 students, many of whom face challenges in regulating their emotions and may exhibit difficult behaviours alongside Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The school is committed to fostering a nurturing atmosphere for both students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one support for students in classroom settings and during extracurricular activities.
  • Assist in the development of tailored learning plans to meet individual student needs.
  • Implement strategies to support students in managing challenging behaviours.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and contribute to a positive learning environment.
  • Participate in training and continuous professional development (CPD) opportunities.
The Successful Candidate Will:
  • Hold a minimum Level 2 qualification in Childcare or Education.
  • Have recent experience working in a secondary education environment.
  • Demonstrate confidence in supporting students with challenging behaviour.
  • Possess a sound understanding of SEND and related strategies.
  • Be flexible and adaptable in their approach to teaching and support.
  • Work effectively as part of a larger team.
  • Commit to ongoing training and professional development.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS check or be willing to apply for one.
  • Provide references covering the last two years of employment.
