I’m Rosie, the SEN consultant for the East Midlands. I’m a 360 consultant, so I do both the client and candidate side of things, including business development, sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates, and more.
My role is to recruit teachers and teaching assistants for SEN schools in the East Midlands. I work with schools throughout the East Midlands including Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire, and Derbyshire.
I have recently joined the business after graduating this year.
It’s an early start, so I’ll make sure to get out of bed straight away and get ready for work. Most importantly, I always make sure I have a cup of tea before I have to leave! Then I’ll hop on the bus, where I usually bump into my manager, Patrick. Once I get to work, it’s time for another cup of tea.
Then I start the day by going through my emails, reviewing applications, and earmarking candidates that I need to ring later in the day. Once I’ve got a good foundation for the day, I’ll have breakfast - my favourite at the moment is overnight oats!
After breakfast, I like to make a to-do list to plan out what I need to get done that day. Then I’ll start on some BD calls and calling candidates up until lunchtime.
I like to try and get some fresh air on my lunch break so I usually go for a walk around the block or sometimes I use the office gym (I need to start doing this more often!)
For food, I always try to make sure to bring in a nice meal, usually leftover from the night before. I’ll eat this and then I’ll take some time to relax in the communal space in the office.
My afternoons look a bit busier than my mornings! I’ll continue with my candidate calls, and also write and post job ads. I’ll be on LinkedIn at this time too.
This part of the day is also normally when I’ll carry out interviews. It’s really nice to be able to speak to so many people over the course of a day.
I really enjoy cooking, so I always like to go home and make a nice meal for myself and my boyfriend. We always make sure we sit down together to eat and catch up on how our days were.
After tea, I like to make sure everything is prepared for the next day – prepare breakfast, lunch, etc – as I don’t like to leave this to the morning. This is an excellent tip if you’re someone who likes to spend that extra bit of time in bed in the morning or want to make your morning routine a little less hectic!
If there’s any time left, I like to watch TV, do some knitting, spend time with my boyfriend, ring family, etc. Then, I’ll get ready for bed, and I like to read a bit before eventually going to sleep – ready for the next day!
