Have a Cracking Easter!

It's nearly Easter so we wanted to share with you all some fun things that you can do at home to celebrate that don't involve going outside (unless it’s to shop) or break the bank. We’re not just a great teaching agency, we’re Easter eggs-perts, don’t you know?

An Egg-Cellent Idea

Add a splash of colour to your life this Easter by painting your boiled eggs. All you need is a little vinegar and food colouring, plus some rubber bands if you want to create something really fancy. The best part is that you can still eat them after so nothing goes to waste.

An Egg-Citing Activity

Draw or, if you have access to a printer, print Easter eggs in different sizes (get the kids involved in this too by asking them to colour in the eggs) then hide them around the house the garden and challenge them to find them. There reward for finding them can be whatever you choose!

An Egg-Stra Special Treat

There is nothing better than a good old fashioned rice crispy cake in our opinion. Not only are they simple to make, but they also taste great too and are the perfect lockdown pick me up! We've shared our favourite recipe below so you can enjoy them too!

Ingredients

- 110g (4oz) chocolate, broken into squares

- 50g (2oz) unsalted butter, cubed

- 50g (2oz) Lyle's Golden Syrup

- 75g (3oz) breakfast cereal

Instructions

Step 1 - Pop the chocolate in a heatproof bowl and set it over a pan of simmering water for about 5 minutes - stir from time to time, until it's melted and smooth (don't let that bowl base touch the water)

Step 2- Remove from the heat then gently stir in the cereal with a metal spoon until completely covered in chocolate

Step 3  - Scoop the mixture into paper cake cases in a 12-hole muffin tin and add some chocolate mini eggs. Then chill in the fridge for about 1 hour or until the chocolate has set. Store in an airtight container in the fridge until ready to eat (they keep for about a week)

We'd love to see what you will be getting up to during the Easter holidays, whether it’s baking or Bonet making,  make sure to share your updates in our Facebook Group: Operation Smile

PS we are very sorry for all the egg related puns. But they did crack us up.

Happy Easter from all the team at Smile Education. We hope that the Easter Bunny spare no egg-spense with your basket this year (okay, we promise we are done now).

Happy Easter!
