We sat down with Andrew, one of our amazing supply teachers and asked him to answer 5 of your most burning questions about supply teaching. Here is what he had to say...
What inspired you to pursue a career in education?
I had worked in a number of industries including, retail, finance, insurance and recruitment and didn’t get a buzz out of them. I did, however, enjoy teaching and training people so decided to try teaching.
Why did you decide to specialise with SEN?
I appear to be able to read SEN well and am able to motivate individuals. I find it very rewarding when they become excited by their success.
What made you take the leap from your last permanent position?
I was looking to set up a business. Funding was agreed and we were ready to start then I had the opportunity to become a National Governor. Supply gives me the flexibility to do that.
Why did you decide to join Smile/become a supply teacher?
I joined Smile because I saw the name appearing in more supply sign-in books at schools. The name made me smile so I went for it!
How have you found the experience so far?
Smile are amazing! I have worked with a number of consultants across a few agencies and can say that Jaleesa and Emma are some of the best I have ever worked with.
