Are you a supply teacher or teaching assistant looking for some help and advice? If so, you are in the right place. Our blogs offer tips and tricks on everything from classroom management to interview tips and support, along with day in the life case studies from real supply teachers, ECTs and cover supervisors. They also give you an insight into what working for Smile is like, the ways which we support local communities and charities and the training and events that we offer.
For more good stuff like this, follow us on social media - you can find us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn. Or pick up the phone and give us a call.
As part of our ongoing commitment to safeguarding, we ask that all of our school leaders, teachers, classroom support and support staff meet us for a face-to-face interview. Doing so allows us to find out a little more about you and satisfy our safeguarding checks.
Usually, this will take place at our office, (although many of our consultants do meet various other locations too) and while we may know our way here, we understand that not everyone does. So, to make getting here a little easier we’ve put together some handy directions, though if in doubt use Google Maps.
From Snow Hill Station
Snow Hill Station is the closest train station to the Smile Education office and is just a 5-minute walk away. When you leave the station’s main entrance, you’ll want to turn right and head towards the tram tracks. If you see the Wesleyan building, you’ll know you are heading in the right direction!
From Moor Street Station
Moor Street Station is a 10-minute walk from The Colmore Building where we are based. Upon leaving the station you’ll want to cross over the road in the direction Marks and Spencers. Following that you’ll need to make your way to Corporation Street, around the Square Peg and past the Tony Hannock sculpture. You’ll see the Wesleyan building to your left, head towards this and you’ll find the Colmore Building opposite.
From New Street Station
New Street Station is a little further away than Snow Hill and Moor Street. The quickest route from here would be via Corporation Street. On your way, you’ll pass the likes of New Look, The Square Peg (a large Wetherspoons) and finally the Wesleyan building. It should take you around 15 minutes after your exit from the station.
The nearest metro stop
Our nearest metro stop is only a short walk away and is based on Bull Street, near to coffee shop Wayland’s Yard and comic book store Forbidden Planet. From there our office is a 3-minute walk away.
Getting here by bus
There are over 50 buses that travel into the city centre and it just wouldn’t be practical for us to tell you the directions from each one. However, what we can tell you is that we’re in walking distance from all of them! To find out just how close check out this handy map from Network West Midlands.
Parking Near Us
Our closest car park is B4 Car Parking and it is just a 3 minutes walk away from our office! However, it is a little pricey (£7 for two hours of parking). Alternatively, if you don’t mind walking a little further and want to save a few pennies try Snow Hill Car Park or the NCP Car Park - Birmingham High Street. Both car parks are less than a 10-minute walk away.
Arriving at The Colmore Building
When you arrive at The Colmore Building, head through the revolving doors and turn left towards the cafe. Behind the cafe, you’ll find the Orega reception desk (Orega are the lovely people who manage our building and keep it in tip-top condition). You need to let the receptionist at the desk know what company your here to see (Smile Education) and the name of the consultant you’re here to see (take a look at our meet the team page for a refresher), they’ll then give us a call to let us know you are here.
And that’s that! It really is that simple. However, should you have any trouble finding us or can’t make your appointment, get in touch and give us a call on 0121 392 6570 and let us know. We’ll be more than happy to help with directions or reschedule.
