Why the East Midlands is a great place to teach

The East Midlands is home to thriving cities and picturesque country views making it a great place to not just work but live too. Moreover, it’s a fantastic place to teach and there are plenty of career opportunities available in the region’s 1,665 primary schools and 480 secondary schools.

Here's why we think that the East Midlands is a great place to teach.

Famous schools

One of the most famous schools in the East Midlands is Repton School; a thriving independent boarding school in Derby. Famous faces that attended the school include Jeremy Clarkson (although he was later expelled…), author Roald Dahl, Tennis player and Wimbledon finalist, Bunny Austin to name a few.

OFSTED ratings

But it’s not just the independent schools which are making waves. There are 380 schools across the East Midlands which are rated Outstanding by OFSTED and a further 1953 are rated good. As an approved CCS supplier, we have access to many of these schools and can help you secure work within them.

We have most recently been named as a preferred supplier for the David Ross Education Trust which is made up of 34 primary and secondary schools.

Career opportunities

With some many schools in the East Midlands there are an abundance of work opportunities at all levels. This includes teaching, teaching assistant and non-classroom based roles like caretaking and administration.

Whether you are looking for day-to-day work or want something more permanent there is a role out there for everyone including you. Should you need a little help with your job search, then we’re able to help and you can get the ball rolling by sending us your CV.

Culture and history

The East Midlands is steeped in history and culture. Working as a supply teacher allows you to have greater work-life balance giving you the chance to experience more of what the East Midlands has to offer. Why not let your hair down and have some full at Nottingham Carnival? Or perhaps a stroll down the Cromford Canal is more your thing?

Equally, it’s also a great place for school trips. There are many places to visit including Sherwood Forest and Lincoln Cathedral which are both rich in history and provide great learning opportunities.

Of course, if you already live in the East Midlands then you’ll know all about this already! However, a little reminder didn’t hurt anyone.

If you are based in any of the following areas, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, or Rutland, and looking for a new role within a school, then please get in touch. We would love to be able to help you with your search for work in schools.
