Smile Education has donated hundreds of items of uniform to local schools across the West Midlands since the beginning of September.
In partnership with Newlife the Charity for Disabled Children, Smile Education has been visiting their partner schools to give away brand-new trousers, skirts, jumpers, shirts and more to support children and their families amidst the cost-of-living crisis.
Newlife is a charity that raises vital funds for specialist equipment and support to disabled and terminally ill children across the UK. Across their 10 stores, they work with leading retailers and manufacturers who donate items that would otherwise be destined for landfill.
Instead of selling the uniforms at their stores, Newlife chose to donate hundreds of pieces to Smile Education and other organisations. Consultants at Smile Education have reached out to schools they work with across the Midlands and have been hand-delivering bundles of uniforms, which will then be given to the children who need them most.
Smile Education are a recruitment agency that works with schools across the Midlands, North West and South Yorkshire to add value to their hiring process. The business has been operating from its head office in Birmingham for over 14 years, and has built an extensive network of schools, considering themselves an extension of their staff team.
Katy, Managing Director at Smile Education, said “Our team are passionate about supporting the local community. Uniforms can often be a costly part of the back-to-school rush, so we wanted to be able to help in any way we can. We’re pleased to have given so many schools the chance to further support pupils and their families”.
Tracey Parsons, School Business Manager at Brockmoor Primary School, said “Times are tough, for school budgets and for families in our community. Thanks to the donation of school uniforms from Smile Education, we have been able to support some of our existing families, and pupils joining us, with a brand new uniform! To be able to give them a sense of pride and belonging from day one is invaluable.”
