Meet Tia! She’s a graduate teaching assistant who has been working in one of our SEN primary schools. Tia is a valued member of Graduate Academy and joined us upon completing a degree in Counselling at the University of Coventry.
We asked to give us an insight into what a typical day looks like for her and she delivered!

My Day begins with a healthy breakfast as I need to fuel my energy levels in preparation for the day ahead.
Entering the classroom, I prepare activities and help create a peaceful and welcoming environment through calming music for when the children arrive.
I welcome each child distributing positivity and warmness to set the tone for the day. The class sizes are very small with the maximum amount being 10 pupils, which is great because it allows me to form more personal relationships with each child and truly see their unique personalities shine through.
Throughout the day various activities are conducted such as arts and crafts, reading, outdoor play, scavenger hunts, singing, painting, and sensory play. The goal of each day is to help each child, reach milestones/targets, enhance their personalities, explore their likes and help accomplish their academic skills.
