Food Technology TeacherOldham £170–£235 per day | ASAP start | Long-termSmile Education are recruiting for a qualified Food Technology Teacher to work within a secondary school in Oldham.
The school are looking for a confident Food Preparation and Nutrition specialist who can deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons across KS3 and KS4.
The RoleAs a Food Technology Teacher, you will teach Food Preparation and Nutrition across KS3 and KS4 as part of the wider Design & Technology curriculum.
You will plan and deliver practical lessons, develop pupils’ understanding of nutrition, food preparation and safe working practices, and support students towards strong outcomes at GCSE.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver Food Preparation and Nutrition across KS3 and KS4.
- Plan engaging practical and theory-based lessons.
- Support pupils with GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition.
- Develop practical cooking skills, nutritional knowledge and independent learning.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene and health and safety.
- Manage behaviour confidently during practical and classroom-based lessons.
- Assess pupil progress and provide feedback where required.
- Adapt teaching to meet the needs of pupils of varying abilities, including SEND.
- Contribute positively to the wider Design & Technology department.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and school expectations.
Requirements- QTS is essential.
- Applicants without QTS will not be considered.
- Experience teaching Food Technology, Food Preparation and Nutrition or a closely related subject within a UK secondary school is required.
- Strong knowledge of the KS3 and KS4 Food curriculum is essential.
- Experience preparing pupils for GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition is highly desirable.
- You must be confident managing practical lessons safely and effectively.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills are essential.
- ECTs and experienced teachers are encouraged to apply.
- You must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
- You must have the full right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Pay and Benefits- £170–£235 per day, dependent on experience and responsibilities.
