School Administrator (Part time)

Smile Education are currently recruiting for an experienced School Administrator to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Great Barr on a part-time, long-term basis, working Tuesday to Thursday.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced school administrator to join a dedicated school office team, with the opportunity for the role to become permanent for the right person.

The successful applicant will be responsible for carrying out a range of general administrative duties, including signing visitors in and out of the school in line with safeguarding procedures, updating the school’s CRM system, managing attendance records and responding to general enquiries.

Previous experience working within a school environment is essential, alongside experience using Arbor. The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong IT and organisational skills, and the ability to build positive working relationships with staff, pupils and parents.

The expected salary range for the role is £16–£18 per hour, depending on experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Carrying out day-to-day school administration duties
  • Monitoring and maintaining accurate attendance records
  • Updating and maintaining student and pupil records
  • Using Arbor effectively and confidently
  • Providing administrative support across the school office
  • Presenting attendance and pupil data to senior leaders where required
  • Supporting safeguarding and visitor procedures
  • Signing visitors in and out in line with school safeguarding procedures
  • Responding to telephone calls, emails and general enquiries
  • Liaising professionally with staff, parents and external agencies
  • Maintaining a highly organised and efficient school office
  • Supporting the wider school team with administrative tasks
The Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Have previous experience working in a school environment
  • Have previous school administration or attendance experience
  • Have essential experience using Arbor
  • Be highly motivated, professional and forward-thinking
  • Have proficient IT and data management skills
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Be able to build positive working relationships with staff, pupils and parents
  • Have a good understanding of school attendance and safeguarding procedures
  • Be highly organised and able to work effectively as part of a busy school office team
What to Expect from Applicants:
We are looking for applicants who have previous experience working within a school administration role and are confident using Arbor.
Applicants must be available to work Tuesday to Thursday and be able to commit to the role on a long-term basis. There is an opportunity for the position to become permanent for the right candidate.
